I've either had bad luck with WD lately, or their products suck.
Alza resolved the complaint super fast
It stopped working almost immediately
At NASA, he reported a constant error
Repeated disconnecting and reconnecting
There are plenty of warnings on the internet not to buy WD Red
5 year old WD Black drives hold up and this one goes away right after purchase

After 11 years, one of the two 2TB drives in my NAS died (unfortunately, a rather sudden death: (. ), when I looked at the prices and the 2TB drive today costs about 200, - more than in alza in 2013, I bought 4TB straight, as the 2TB drive is not really worth it. At least our price/capacity has moved up a bit in ten years.
I was hesitating between Seagate and WD, but I bet on the same horse again. Only nowadays the situation is even more unpredictable, because you have to be careful which discs are SMR and which are CMR. Fortunately, this one is a "good old" CMR classic. I hope that the drive will serve as well as the old one (the second drive is still OK), but I read some affair about WD drives, that SW will mark them with a warning even if they have been running for 3 years, this model is not affected.
Classic for NAS
Quiet
Total OK price/capacity
CMR
Endurance is hard to evaluate yet

I bought the drive as a replacement for one of the 4 HDDs that left the NAS after 10 years - originally bought on 12/28/2014! If it also has 10 years of service ahead of it, what more could you ask for: -)

What else do you want in a NAS from Synology, QNAP. Data. With WD drives in this category I unfortunately have a worse experience with durability, I prefer Seagate drives, but in a larger array I prefer a variety of drives half and half, as when they are bought together you avoid manufacturing defects a bit.
does not have
mostly shorter endurance

I already have several drives (2TB, 4TB) of this WD Red Plus series. All of them have been working for a long time without a single problem. They're pretty quiet. However, the headers are a bit noisier with this 8TB version - crunching. But it can be tolerated.
Fast and relatively quiet
Low heating
Hopefully reliable - time will tell
Noisier headers compared to the 4TB version.
Wrapped only in an anti-static bag without any protection against shipping damage. A classic from WD.

I have an older piece of 3T that drives in nasa and has over 87,000 hours, so 10 years of operation, still OK
