The developers have clearly had a bit of a wake-up call this time and have produced an absolute masterpiece. For a mere 5,790 Kčs (a tear of nostalgia for the old currency has just fallen), I’ve received something that looks clean and elegant and really stands out on my wrist. The display is a real visual treat. Yes, in direct midday sunlight, the readability is just a tiny bit poorer, and that premium sapphire crystal acts as a perfect magnet for fingerprints, so you end up polishing it more often than your ego, but those are just minor details. The main thing is that the sapphire actually stays in place! I wear it on building sites and dash about production halls without any protective case, and the watch still hasn’t got a single scratch on it. It has more functions and settings than a space shuttle’s control panel. As someone who’s completely unathletic, I bought it primarily as a smart device to alert me to notifications, so I wouldn’t have to keep fumbling around for my phone. But this watch has such an aura about it that it even made me get on my wife’s exercise bike, just to see if my heart rate would shoot up into the stratosphere. Pairing with my phone went smoothly first time round without any frustration; the app is as straightforward as a primer, and there are loads of watch faces to choose from. If, by any chance, you haven’t chosen one, you can easily create your own via the web interface. And now for the best bit. As I categorically refuse to be followed at every turn by the Illuminati or the Reptilians, I keep my GPS switched off at all times. As a result, the battery life is absolutely off the charts. You just charge it up, head off to Tibet for a month of meditation, come back, and still have enough juice left to realise that your fitness is still rubbish after all that time on the exercise bike. To sum up: Everything works perfectly, it all fits together, and for this price, it’s basically daylight robbery. An absolute gem – 5 stars!

I was forced to return the watch because of the display - it is extremely cloudy (I have never experienced this with any device) + it is kind of seedy (it is definitely not sapphire, because I have had more watches with sapphire and I have not encountered this). The display is the biggest stumbling block and at that price it is unacceptable to me. In the end I took the Amazfit Bip 6, which has a great display and offers almost the same (payment, safir, maps, surface temperature measurement I do not need).
