Quite a luxury LED strip for a relatively high price, but at least the fact that the brand should not start flashing a random number of diodes in a few weeks is quite an advantage, so the price can probably be justified. Moreover, the connection to the smart home via the rather elegant Philips Hue system is fine, the idea of that Chinese remote control with 30 buttons each of a different colour scares me.

I personally don't mind the higher price, I mean you are always trading ease-of-use and reliability for higher price with Hue products, but the build quality is just not there for these lights strips. The strip itself is fine, it feels durable and once setup look great. But the mounting is just awful, it comes preinstalled with this flimsy thin double sided tape that easily detaches from the strip and kinks up. Also the manufacturing decision to apply this sticky tape when the strip is coiled up towards itself is just baffling, during mounting you are always fighting the fact that the glue tape is longer then the strip. Shame on you Philips for not caching this during testing. Also I don't really understand why they didn't make it fully modular, as in put the same connector used for extending right after the controller and then just sell the "extension" 1-2m strips.It would really simplify a mounting when you want to end neatly with some edge, because you cannot cut it anywhere, there are marks every 33cm. Yeah, not my favorite Hue product.

You can extend the 2m base strip, but the total power of 20W remains. So if you extend the 2m strip by two extensions the total is still 20w, but the luminosity of the basic base strip drops. I tried a more powerful power supply, but the problem remained. The limitation is probably the control technology.
