The sensor, also referred to as an image sensor, is a key component of a digital camera that converts light passing through the lens into a digital image. The specification „1/2.8 inch“ describes the size of its diagonal. This designation is a historical standard and does not precisely correspond to the actual physical dimension, which is slightly smaller. Sensors of this size are commonly used in security cameras, webcams, or some smartphones. Sensor size has a direct impact on image quality. Smaller sensors, like this one, capture less light, which can lead to the formation of image noise, i.e., fine graininess, especially when shooting in poor lighting conditions. At the same time, smaller sensors create a greater depth of field. This means that a larger part of the scene, from the foreground to the background, will be sharp in the resulting image.
