Wired backhaul refers to the method by which a WiFi extender or a satellite unit in a mesh system connects to the main router. In this case, a physical network cable, a so-called Ethernet cable, is used for the connection instead of a wireless WiFi signal. Such a wired connection ensures very stable and fast data transmission between the units, as it is not affected by obstacles like walls or interference from other wireless networks. Consequently, the full capacity of the WiFi extender is entirely available for connected devices, such as laptops or phones, because communication with the router occurs separately via the cable.
