I' m running OpenWRT in AP mode. Faster and more reliable than the previous TP-Link Archer C6, which has half the RAM and Flash parameters (and which TP-Link continues to quietly reduce in new revisions). 30+ wifi clients without a problem.
OpenWRT
256MB RAM / 16MB Flash
problems with the original firmware in AP mode (see review)

I haven't tried WRT yet, but it's right on the manufacturer's website
good quality SW, which I did not expect for such a cheap device
the antennas cannot be rotated in all directions, so when mounted on the wall, they are 2 horizontally

To upgrade to AX WiFi, we went to Asus first (RT-AX1800U, which is identical to the RT-AX53U) and I was very disappointed with the signal strength/coverage and thus the real transfer speeds. I uploaded OpenWRT, but that doesn't help the signal anyway, it just opens up more options. I overlooked Cudy on Alza, like some kind of NoName. Then I was approached by the current discount on 990, - and I started to look for what this thing is again: -). Cudy is a relatively new Chinese company, when a few people from TP-Link defected and became independent under the name Cudy (at least that's what Google says: -)). They produce quite interesting devices at reasonable prices and are open to support alternative FW like OpenWRT. So I tried this router and there is a huge enthusiasm so far. WiFi works great and has very decent coverage and speeds due to the distance from the router, FW has relatively enough settings and directly manufacturer supports the transition to OPENWRT (for advanced)! Super machine considering the current price. I can only recommend it. Even on standard FW it works to complete satisfaction! Considering the price and as a fairly demanding user, so far I can only recommend it, at least as a very decent AP (I don't use it as a router).
An unknown brand that pleasantly surprised (supposedly former TP-Link employees).
Super signal/coverage compared to basic AX Asus.
Decent standard FW with significantly more options than the basic AX Asusy.
It can connect to the Mesh system with other CUDY products.
Nice design- I like the black colour.
But the best part - the manufacturer supports OPENWRT directly for this model! Boom!
smaller ROM (only 16MB, but so far it's enough for OpenWRT, so it's not a problem.
Smaller RAM, but also enough.
I miss the 2.5Gb LAN port, it would be incredibly nice.
It doesn't have USB, but I don't need it.
