It's good for reading books, it's a reader after all. For PDFs or images, a small display is expected. I don't have much experience with different readers for comparison. The ERA 700 replaced my ancient, 12 year old Bookeen Gen 3 with a dead battery. And even though mainly in connectivity and interactivity (mainly dictionaries and google), as well as in the quality/contrast of e-ink it is undoubtedly an upgrade, the fact that the battery lasts barely 1/3 of what the old reader, and even 12 years of development still has not brought according to me the basic functionality (i.e. to have the reader "asleep"/power-less most of the time, with a visible page and to wake it up only when turning the page) is a bit puzzling. It is a single-purpose dedicated device that has no other job. Games, pre-reading, audiobooks,. can handle any mobile better, and with more storage. I wish someone would focus on the real benefit of e-ink and the purpose it serves best. Well, maybe in another 12 years.

My third reader and first PocketBook. I am writing this review after 6 months of ownership and I have to say that I like it better and better as time goes on. After a previous Android device (Likebook Mars) which I used mostly just for reading, I have to admit that the ergonomics of the controls, the text editing options, and the reading app itself are more important than having the book open a second faster or moving through the settings a little faster.
PocketBook user access - all services and accounts are optional. The reader can be used in a few minutes after first switching it on and never connect to the internet. Format support is also excellent.
On the other hand, the cloud with synchronisation works fine in my case and reading any reminders shared on all logged in devices is cool.
The ergonomics of the reader are great.
Updates really push the device forward. Both in terms of device response and features. The last update added system dark mode - the last feature I missed.
Personalization - customized homepage and quick settings, gestures while reading.
TTS works well even with Czech.
The official display cover with magnet is worth buying if you can get it.
If this is important to anyone - KOReader is available.
The reader deserves a faster processor. During reading there is no problem, scrolling through the menu is ok, it is a reader after all, but in case of text manipulation in larger books ( font adjustments, spacing etc. ) You can wait a second.
PDFs that are not text only and don't reflow are not really suitable for this device.

I buy Pocketbook readers because of their cloud storage support. The reader supports Send-to-Pocketbook (used to automatically send purchased books to the reader), it also supports Dropbox where I store my books (when I change the reader or after a factory reset I simply have all the books back) and the last service is Pocketbook Cloud, which uploads all the books I open in the reader to it, including notes. So it's no problem to continue reading on a mobile or tablet (both Android and Apple support) exactly where I left off on the reader or tablet or mobile. Simply the data from the last used device is synchronized to the others. I would also highlight the display, which is again better, especially when reading in daylight. It is no longer recessed and is flush with the shoulder. Also worth mentioning is the battery life, which lasted from 100% to 5% for 1600 pages (five books), with the backlight set at 42% and the light temperature at 47%. For buttons that are located on the side of the reader, it is possible to change their function in the settings. In my case, I swapped the page turning function. The reader is equipped with speakers and Czech support for pre-reading text, which is great when I can't read, for example because I've broken my glasses or for someone who listens to audiobooks and the title is not available in audio format. The pre-reading works well, the voice doesn't sound robotic and can take into account commas between words and in sentences, including dashes. The reading speed and voice colour can be set.
