The kettle smelled pretty bad at first, but it was enough to boil it a few times and let it air out. The first time we boiled it, it overflowed, the level was according to the line, we just added a little vinegar. So beware. Fortunately, the base "counts with it", the water flowed through the holes on the line, which I appreciate. The opening is a bit unusual but functional, it's a habit. I recommend opening the lid only when pouring water into the sink. Otherwise, with a greater tilt, water flows into it and then flows around the handle when opened.
