Even though I own a powerful PC, I use the Steam deck more often. I probably wouldn't recommend it to the hardcore AAA title player, although it does a lot. But for pixel art, 2D or less demanding games it's absolutely ideal and the battery lasts long enough. I definitely recommend buying a docking station.

For me, Valve is definitely the one who understood this concept the best. Unlike the competition, which is cramming Windows in there - and probably has nothing else left - there is (like a breeze) a lightweight Linux distribution with Steam. So it's actually a full-fledged computer or media center for KODI that will serve us on the go. And if you want to have Windows there, you can easily prepare it on a memory card with Rufus and boot it only when you actually use it by pressing VOLUME - and POWER. This may erase this (for some) disadvantage compared to the competition. It's also worth mentioning Valve's approach, where titles for this platform are not only tested, but also optimized, so you know exactly that the game won't be a problem thanks to the green check mark. The most important: on Steam, everything's a steal. For less than 1500 CZK you can get 8 big titles, when games usually cost less than 12 euro. Kingdom Come is there now for 5,99€. I've got a teenager at home, so I'll buy it for him now. I'll enjoy it myself for now!: -D

Knowing that Steam decks at this price would no longer be available, I bought two with the intention of selling one and keeping the other (1TB vs 512gb OLED). I opted for the 512GB version and already regret not getting the 1TB. After getting used to the Linux OS, this is the best thing I've bought lately. Emulators, gaming, movies, work. The only drawback is the poor battery life during demanding activities, the battery doesn't even hold a charge only via USB. I recommend getting a power bank with min. with a power of 45W.
