I have to press the open button 3-5 times before it opens at all. When connected to my MacBook Air M4, the drive will not read any disc, neither the installation software nor the movie DVD. The notebook doesn't display anything as if there is no disk inside. Overall, the device is not working as it should. I don't recommend it.

The unit itself is very hilarious. It is compact, lightweight, nicely made, reads discs without a hitch. I have not tried writing, I have no need to write to optical discs. Unfortunately, the manufacturer decided to save money on the cable at all costs. So you only get a 45 cm long (even fifty would probably be expensive) flimsy cable with 1x USB-C and 1x USB-A (blue 2.0) connectors. The USB-C connector comes in the unit, so if you need to connect the device to a laptop with a USB-C port, for example, you need to use the included reducer. And this is where the trouble starts. The supplied reducer is not able to "hide" the burner. The door opens, but as soon as the unit tries to spin the disc, it immediately lies down again. This is repeated over and over again. If I plug a quality USB-C -> USB 3 hub (in my case, a Verbatim USB-C Multiport Hub) into the same port on my laptop and connect the included cable, the drive runs great. So the problem is clearly in the supplied reduction. Bottom line: - From the USB-A (3.0) connector, the drive runs without problems. Tested on Lenovo Win 11 desktop PC. - The unit is not ready for operation from the USB-C connector as shipped. According to the reviews, I definitely did not solve this problem myself. Therefore, you need to invest in either a quality USB hub or new cables. Then the unit works. Tested on an Apple MacBook Air 2025. If I didn't already have a quality hub at home, I would return the unit with thanks. As a "USB-C burner" it's kind of a half-baked product, a victim of a bit of silly cost optimization.

It reads data CDs and DVDs well (and quickly), I had no reason to try burning. However, Audio-CD reads (at least on Linux) so badly that you can't even play half a minute straight. Only with the help of spec. SW you can try to get the data from the Audio-CD to disk (and then play this copy). One such download takes longer than the time it takes to play the music from that CD, and the CD has to be read many times, so I worry about media destruction as well. I had to buy another drive for the Audio-CD.
