Alza Days - Camera Lenses - additional info
The lens is perhaps the most important component of any digital camera. Lenses consist of a lens unit, which uses a the light sensor to focus on objects. Unlike compact cameras, digital SLRs allow you to use interchangeable lenses. They can select the lens according to the specific conditions during shooting.
Choosing a new lens can be complicated, especially when selecting the right aperture and focal length, which determines angle, image stabilisation and focus speed. Lenses are divided into categories, including zoom lenses, fixed focus lenses and specialised lenses. You can also increase lens performance by using special UV filters and other accessories.
