What platforms can you buy consoles and PC games for?

There are currently several popular platforms (device types) that dominate the gaming world, and most console and PC games are released on them—but not all games are released on all platforms. Some titles are so-called exclusives. This means they only come out on certain platforms. The most common platforms are:

What makes pre-ordering console and PC games worth it?

Can't stand waiting for your long-anticipated console and PC games to come out? Want to play them on their release day? If so, pre-ordering is the way to go. But there are also other reasons to pre-order a game:

• Lowest price guaranteed - You'll pay no more than what the game cost when you pre-ordered it. This is even if the final sale price goes up before release. If, on the other hand, the price drops by release day, your pre-order overpayment will be refunded. That way, you'll always have a brand new game at the lowest possible price.
• Exclusive bonuses - Publishers often reward players who have been loyal enough to pre-order a game. Pre-orders therefore often include bonuses that are otherwise unobtainable. This could be an artbook, additional in-game content, unique merchandise or a collectible statue, for example. Sometimes it's a special edition at a premium price, other times it's a pre-order bonus that comes for free.
• You'll be the first to receive the new console and PC game - No one will beat you to the pre-order. When we stock up, we'll send out pre-orders first so you can get your game on, ideally on release day.

Content Types

You'll notice that there are three basic types of content in our gaming product range:

• Game - This is a base, standalone console and PC games and a full experience.
• DLC/Game Add-On - Some console and PC games also come with add-ons or DLC (downloadable content). They always expand the game in some way. The specific form varies greatly - it can be a minor cosmetic addition or a whole new storyline that will provide dozens more hours of gameplay after you complete the base game.
• In-Game Currency - Some console and PC games, especially online multiplayer games, have their own currency that you can use to buy extra content. And these currencies—in-game credits—are also easy to get here.

How do we divide console and PC games by genre?

Console and PC games come in a variety of genres, usually falling into more than one. If you're not sure what to make of each genre, here's a brief explanation:

• Action - There are several types of action games (first-person, third-person, fighting, stealth or platformers to name a few). But what they all have in common is that they put you right in the middle of the action, where you have to deal with obstacles, especially with skill and quick reaction times.
• Strategy - Usually not as fast-paced as action games, but they do require you to plan, organise and make the right decisions. Even strategy games have their subgenres—they can be building, tactical, turn-based, war sims, etc.
• RPG - These are so-called role-playing games. Although this is an incredibly diverse genre, its representatives are usually united by a deep and expansive story, a large world and a main character (or more) whose stats and sometimes even characteristics you can customise to your liking.
• Simulators - Would you like to fly a plane, become an animal for an afternoon or, conversely, try what it's like to be a real hunter? Simulators allow you to do that and much more. These are usually realistic games that simulate certain (not only) human activities in so much detail that they feel like the real thing.
• Sports - Sports games vary just as much as real sports. Take control of a team of football or hockey players, practice new tricks on a skateboard or play tennis—it's all up to you.
• Adventure & Story-Based Games - Adventure games don't have fast-paced action sequences or complex military manoeuvres. What awaits you is exploration, puzzle solving, and an engaging story.
• FPS/Shooters - You'd be hard pressed to find a more pure representative of action games than the first person shooter (FPS). In these games, you see the game world directly through your character's eyes, making it easy to immerse yourself in the action.
• Racing - High speeds on the straight roads and precisely timed braking when you hit a turn. Choosing the best track and overtaking at just the right moment. These are all the skills you need to do well in racing games. Racing games deliver a wide variety of car and motorcycle races in many forms.
• Adventure - Adventure games take many forms, but they always take you on a journey to an extraordinary world full of exciting experiences.
• Logic - Logic games don't usually test your reflexes or aiming precision. On the contrary, they put obstacles in front of you that require slow and methodical thinking to solve. They can really test your grey brain matter, but know that you'll also have fun. What's more: the satisfaction of solving a logical problem and the feeling of accomplishment are simply worth it.
• Children's - A safe bet for uncertain and worried parents. Children's games are innocent, colourful and free of realistic violence. Sometimes they work with familiar childhood themes or cartoon characters and the stories are told in an easily accessible way.
• Horror - These computer games are the next step and a new challenge even for jaded horror movie fans. After all, being a passive spectator is quite different from becoming an active part of the plot.
• VR - Virtual reality is already one of the best ways to have an intense gaming experience. The technology of VR goggles will immerse you—the gaming world won't just be on the screen, but all around you.
• Party - Multiplayer games that are best enjoyed where you not only have your opponents, but also a cheering audience. In this case, the experience is not just limited to the content of the game, but also how you experience it with the people around you.
• Fighting - In classic fighting games, a few characters (typically two) fight each other in a limited space. Fighting techniques are usually not difficult to understand, but mastering them requires a good deal of skill and observation. You can always play against the computer, of course, but the real challenge comes with local or online multiplayer play.
