What does Philips Hue consist of?

Bridge

It connects smart devices with Philips Hue lights. It is connected to the home Wi-Fi network and you can control it via the Internet even when you're away from home. One bridge can connect up to 50 Philips Hue lights and accessories.

Hue Lights

LED bulbs, LED strip lights, lamps (table, suspension, wall) with various designs. After connecting them to the Bridge they can light up with any from up to 16 million colours. Lights can be controlled individually or as room sets. You can also use them without a bridge as normal monochrome light bulbs

Accessories

A controller, dimmer, or a motion sensor. These allow you to control and regulate lighting without using a smartphone or tablet.

Philips Hue app

Provides convenient access to all bridge features from your smartphone or tablet.

Philips Hue features when paired with bridge

• 16 million colours - choose a colour for every occasion.
• Remote control - if you're not at home, you can turn lights on and off remotely via the Internet.
• Timer - Hue can wake you up with a simulated sunrise or turn off all the lights when you go to sleep.
• Apple Homekit compatibility - Hue can connect with other HomeKit devices and you can control the whole system using Siri voice commands.
• Third-party apps – these can simulate candles or a fireplace, for example. Others set the lights to flash rhythmically like in a disco club. When watching a movie, some apps can change the lights’ colour to match the current scene.
• IFTTT - this service can connect Philips Hue with multiple devices, such as thermostats, sensors, and smart devices. Light bulbs can flicker when an e-mail arrives or change colour if the weather changes. Check www.ifttt.com/hue for many other cool features.

Where to start?

Starter Kit - contains several LED lamps and the very core of the system – a bridge. Ideal for getting to know the Phillips Hue system. You can additionally purchase more individual light sources if you wish and expand the system. Hue LED bulbs are available with the most commonly used E27 and GU10 screws.

What do you need to run Philips Hue?

• Electrical connection - screw the bulbs into a chandelier or lamp and turn on the lights with a light switch. Standing Hue lamps need to be plugged into an electrical outlet.
• Set up the bridge - connect the bridge to an electrical outlet and connect it to the home Wi-Fi router using the supplied cable.
• Download the Hue app - available in App Store or Google Play Store. Connect it to the bridge and look up your lights.
• Done - the system is connected and working. Now you can start exploring everything Philips Hue has to offer.
