Arturia MiniFuse 1 could be an excellent Audio Interface, unfortunately it has several problems. Although all potentiometers are backlit, and even the line/instrument switches and the 48V phantom power switch are backlit, the main volume control is not. It is not a defective piece, this potentiometer is the only one with a metal axis (the others have a transparent plastic axis and a multi-coloured LED underneath) and the only one without a light guide in the knob. Škoda. A much bigger problem is that the internal 48V phantom power is completely unusable. When it is switched on, the line/inst input starts to noise extremely (static). But really extremely, the SNR is about 50/50. Thus, in combination with an electret microphone, which requires 48V power supply, the card is completely unusable. The only solution is not to turn on the internal 48V, but to use an external phantom power injector. Then the card records completely without problems, the background noise (static) is almost inaudible. Recording from sources and instruments that don't need phantom power is fine. This is not a defective piece either, because besides Arturia MiniFuse 1 I also have Arturia MiniFuse 2 and both cards behave identically. In contrast, the internal 48V power supply of the competing Komplete Audio 2 is completely noise-free. So this is probably a design issue with the entire Arturia MiniFuse model range.
