The sound system works in just about every device, mobile, old PC etc. But without installing the drivers you get several warnings about devices and max 16bit/48kHz. However, it always works. The sound from the output is nice, interesting that even with the equalizer off it has a bit of bass when compared to other soundbars. The equalizer is hardware, the settings are remembered even when the device is switched off, what you set can then be used with any device. You can make your own settings or select predefined ones. Pre-amp is also included, but at about 50 percent power. The equalizer is applied to the output, that is, not only to the USB sound source, but also to the line-in. And you can set different levels of inputs. Press the button to turn the equalizer off/on at any time. The card has a volume control on the side, but also a mixing control, which controls not only the mic input, but the line-in vs usb input, I guess it works like mic+line-in vs usb. There's software for the PC, but there's also a mobile app. I don't know why the app requires the GPS to be turned on and it took a long time to connect the first time. The preamp could be more powerful, it's just enough to amplify the line-out from the CD player so you can hear it at normal volume levels. But the headphone output is already amplified solidly. As mentioned, the nice thing is that you can use the card as a portable equalizer for an analog device, e.g. a CD player, powered by a mobile phone, I don't know if it's also purely from a USB socket. I tested everything with passive 60ohm headphones.

Immediately after switching on, the sound quality is many times better than it was on the original PC. After downloading the software, the sound is even more polished. I bought it as a headphone amplifier for PC. I supposedly have a pretty good realtek ALC1220 on my MB and I don't consider myself an audiophile, so my feelings are subjective. But I have to say that the difference was immediately noticeable. Clarity and detail in movies, games, or music. SoundBlaster's software is very intuitive and easy to set up even for a layman. If one has better hearing aids that one uses only for PC, it's definitely worth the thousand investment.
