And from my review (after almost 4 months and 3500 km) it seems that the camera is full of negatives, so that is not the case. The writing will surprise you quite a bit, so that it sticks in your memory and outweighs the positives. The camera meets all expectations and that' s why the minor ailments have a greater effect. First, installing the camera is not easy, and I recommend getting a braided tape for the car electronics and preparing for it on the weekend when you remove the transmission. I moved the camera a total of three times on a Royal Enfield Meteor 350 (originally I put it on the mounting screws for the front license plate, but there the camera dug into the fender when braking, which is a problem with my bike, now it is behind Plexiglas). The size of the front camera is awkward, but understandable given that it is a 4k camera and Innov does not have a technological way to solve 4k transmission via cable like the k3. Personally, I would recommend the k3 file to a less demanding user, it is also better to use the k5 in 1080p/60FPS (even if it doesn' t seem that simple, the faster recording speed makes the recording significantly more sensitive). The WiFi antenna is quite poorly placed on the camera - it sticks out of it and must not be bent. Considering that almost everyone wants a camera on the front handlebars, the cable must be twisted slightly so that the antenna (a patch on the cable approx. 10 cm behind the front camera) cannot bend when the handlebars are rotated. It wasn' t too much of a problem with my bike, but I can imagine that it could be a problem with other bikes. I know that this is again a technological compromise (the antenna can' t be too far from the source), but I think they could have simply fixed the antenna on the outside of the camera frame, on the opposite side of the SD card door. The application is quite successful, but the wifi speed betrays its use (in reality it takes about 15-20 minutes to download a 2-3GB file), the application is only for mobile phones. Yes, I know there is a third-party application (recommended by primo innov) Dashcam viewer, but for a camera for 10 thousand I would expect such an application in the price, and not for some additional 35/75 dollars (depending on the version). Examining the GPS log on a mobile phone is a tedious job. I recommend setting a recording interval of five minutes if you want the camera purely to record the accident, so you can save a lot of time when downloading (originally I set 30 minutes and for one recording from both cameras, which was barely a few seconds long, I danced around the motorcycle for a long time). The surprise was that the camera refused to work without the controller. It' s a bit useless, its gestures can' t be easily used while driving, and actually the only thing the controller tells you is that the camera is working. For me, it should be possible to work without a controller for fans of minimalism. Likewise, the fact that the camera does not stay " live" when downloading a recording and simply turns off after a fixed time limit has passed is quite a negative. If the user wants to download like this, it takes the entire journey (which in my case can be 5-6 hours, i. e. something around 100-150GB in 4k), so it is a few hours of downloading, after which the engine must be started. Therefore, during installation, think about the fact that the door for the SD card (on the right in the standard position, on the left in the " upside-down" position) is accessible. It' s not a problem on my motorcycle (also because I have it behind plexiglass), but on an adventure bike or dual sport, I can imagine the demand for a camera cover in situations where a person wants to protect the camera from rocks rather than filming something. Likewise, a UV filter or some ND or any other accessories (the camera can see poorly against the sun, like all cameras with a wide angle of view) would be nice. At the time of writing the review (6/2024), not even a third party made it, or I never saw it. The covers can be solved by 3D printing, but the filters can probably not be modified other than at home, some kind of filter, e. g. for the drone. Skoda, with such a camera I would really expect accessories this time (considering that their main competition is e. g. GoPro, which is ma). For me, the storage against overcoating is also such an imprudence, but again due to the limitation of the technique more than due to anything else. This works fine by itself, but it only saves the recording that is currently being recorded. It can easily happen that you want to save something that happened, e. g. a minute ago, but because a new record was created 20 seconds ago, you' re sharp. That' s why I recommend the biggest possible card and don' t open the " protected folder" like that. I will record about 20-25 hours (from both cameras) on 512GB, and I think that the " cache" as such is ideal. Unfortunately, it would be difficult to solve it by saving several past records covering the preset time period from when " save to protected folder" was called (so in our case, the previous record would also be saved to the protected folder). So much for the negatives. The positives are practically everywhere - the camera has great recording even without any stabilization, it holds its own against killers like the Meteor 350. In 4k, the recording is perfectly legible during the day, at night it is slightly worse (in general, I would cleanly for the recording, when you want to always have a legible SPZ recommended the file 1080p/60FPS mode as I mention above). By itself, the camera is quite durable and I appreciate the included mounting brackets (and at the same time the brackets that Innov sells directly for specific motorcycles), which I consider a bit standard for this price category (but one would wonder how many cameras will only find two Lka and that is all). The GPS log is accurate and I also appreciate the detection of handling when parking (which I trigger especially when handling the motorcycle myself). Also, accident detection is on the more sensitive side, which is good for me. After installation, the camera is quite invisible, despite all its dimensions (even the controller mentioned on the right, which sticks to the handlebars and its design is only suitable for a few motorcycles, so if possible, I recommend simply hiding it somewhere). The cables are long enough (and innovv itself also offers cables for adjusting the length) and Innovv has thought through the assembly and practically ensured that it is not possible to connect the connectors backwards (each connector has a different configuration, color and size). In this respect, installing the camera is incredibly easy (everything else is worse). The camera surprised me with the quality of the recording in the rain (despite the absence of a hydrophobic coating) and at night. I would summarize it as the camera has a sense for a specific user. For the vast majority of users, a GoPro or a cheaper k3 model is better (that is, for those who want a static camera with a GPS logo that you don' t have to worry about). The K5 is for people who don' t necessarily want the best price-performance ratio, but I primarily want 4k with a rear camera. Apart from the vantrue F1 (which I can' t evaluate, I haven' t tried it with my hands, but it looks better on paper), the Insta360 competes there, but it has to be placed on an unsightly stick. In this regard, I think that the K5 does not have much competition and is a clear choice for a specific and demanding user who is willing to make a lot of compromises (among them, of course, the price) for a single requirement. Ideally, I would give 4.5/5 stars, but I don' t trust Alza " always". And 4/5 is too little for me. So 5/5.
4k on the front camera, for better license plate readability, it is better to use fullHD/60fps mode (especially at night)
support for up to 512GB microSD, personally I would prefer 1TB, but I was quite surprised by how many cameras cannot handle more than 256GB and that in a similar price category
relatively decent image readability even with vibrations (especially at 60fps)
GPS log, an incredibly helpful thing when looking for a certain record (when a person doesn' t know what time something happened but knows where)
The application is very successful and fast
Meets the expectations of a more demanding user (for me, the k3 model is a much better choice for demanding users)
Parking mode (which I usually start myself) and accident detection. Accident detection is more sensitive, it almost always turns on during hard braking (hard braking on the RE Meteor 350 is about as much overload as slow braking on more powerful bikes), so I consider the camera to be reliable in this respect
More difficult installation due to the size of the front camera (the camera is larger due to the 4k sensor, Innov does not have a technical solution for the camera like the k3 with a 4k sensor) - installed on a Royal Enfield Meteor 350, so it depends a lot on the bike
The application is successful, but the download takes a long time (via local wifi) and depending on the mobile phone/settings, it is not possible to use data during the download (at least for me, my mobile phone refuses to use data when I am on wifi, and the wifi does not have internet)
No USB-C for data transfer, e. g. to a laptop (has a micro USB), you need to copy 40GB of recording via wifi (which corresponds to about 1.5-2 hours of 4k recording) then it is for a longer period of time (it can be solved by removing the card, which has a solution anyway, but after installation it is easy to access to SD card limited)
It cannot be kept " active" while the data transfer is in progress, so the engine must be started for the transfer (or the camera turns off a few minutes after " snapping" ). Because Wi-Fi speeds are not miraculous
The GPS log is only in the application
I haven' t figured out how to use " gestures" on the controller. I don' t use the controller itself, and it takes up space on my handlebars (and due to its dimensions, I have nowhere to hide it). It' s a shame that the camera doesn' t work without it installed. I had to buy an extra holder (I used the mirror mount for the rear camera for the luggage frame where I have M8 screws, the other mounts are on M6)
