Rating: 9/10 I bought the frying pan mainly because of its price, and I expected we’d be throwing it away in six months’ time, as we weren’t very confident about it given our previous experiences with stainless steel. Once the pan has been properly seasoned (the instructions are printed on the back of the pan’s paper label), it is in perfect condition. Ideal for deep-frying, e.g. onions. The pan heats up quickly and retains its heat beautifully throughout, so you don’t have to keep turning the hob up and down. For me, the biggest surprise is the washing-up. Stainless steel isn’t non-stick, so something will always stick to the pan. Simply leave the pan to cool, then add a little water and washing-up liquid, leave it for 5 minutes, and then wipe it down with a paper towel or sponge. Provided you haven’t spilled any tarmac on it, everything will wipe off in 5 minutes, just like in the Horst Fuchs advert. The only downside (and perhaps it isn’t really a downside) is that we have an enamelled cast-iron pan at home (so it’s not non-stick) and I still find it more pleasant to cook, for example, burgers on that one rather than on this one. But cast iron is in a completely different price bracket (so you can’t really compare them). Ideally, wash it gently by hand. Frying pans generally don’t like dishwashers.
