INSP Format

The INSP format is a special file format used for photographs taken with Insta360 brand 360-degree cameras. Unlike the common JPEG format, which stores a final flat image, an INSP file contains the entire spherical scene. In addition to image data, it also stores metadata from the camera's motion sensors, such as the gyroscope. These supplementary data allow for advanced operations during subsequent edits, particularly the so-called "reframing," which is the alteration of the viewpoint and composition after the shot has been taken. To work with and edit these files, it is necessary to use the specialized software from the manufacturer, from which the photograph can then be exported to a standard format, most commonly JPEG.
