I've upgraded to r7 5700x3d from r5 5600. Cooler SilentiumPC (endorfy) Fortis 5 dual fan, thermal paste arctic mx-4. for gaming purposes, on AM4 there are only 2 candidates, 5800x3d and its younger brother 5700x3d. at average 5700x3d is 10% slower than 5800x3d but it's much cheaper (8000 vs 5200 CZK) making it definitely more viable option for upgrading for people already on AM4 platform. For people building new PC, they should build on AM5 as 7600x costs the same as 5700x3d (~5400 CZK) and performs better. When comparing 5700x3d to 5600, it definitely runs faster. on 5600 in cyberpunk 2077 in dogtown (very cpu heavy location) i've got drops below 60 fps. 5700x3d keeps easily above that threshold (on screenshot 127 fps average, 75 fps 1% low). On stock voltage, 5700x3d runs hotter than 5600 (in OCCT 11.0 70-75C vs 65C). Luckily that can be mitigated by modifying curve -30mV on all cores (in OCCT 11.0 drops to 63C) making it even cooler than 5600. in OCCT 13.1 (which can heat up CPU way more than v11.0), on stock voltage it easily reaches Tj max 90C, while with -30mV it can keep ~83C.

I bought the processor to revive the platform on AM4 (originally Ryzen 3600, 5600X) with the main requirement for smoothness (no FPS fluctuations) of games with a higher rendering frequency (144 Hz/FPS). I was originally considering the 5800X3D, but after looking at the tests (mainly Dota2 for me) and the requirement for quiet operation (needs less cooling), the 5700X3D is a much better candidate. For the 5600X, I already had slightly lower voltage values set (VDDP and VDDG CCD 850mV - VDDG IOD 900mV - VDDRC SoC 950mV), I kept them and at full load (Cinebench R23) the air-cooled CPU is at 76°C. Normally 36°C at a room temperature of 23-24°C.
