I upgraded to the Ultra 2 from the Watch S7 Cellular (size 45). After three years, the S7's battery was no longer in good shape, and as my watch shut down after 4 hours while cross-country skiing twice during the weekend, I decided to get rid of it and get something that would (hopefully) last much longer.
They look very nice and after all these years (since S2) it's a nice change in design. I don't mind the thickness or the weight (a third higher)
Trail belt is perfectly comfortable and has a "perfect fit"
The display can be very bright
The speaker is functional (you can play music from it without AirPods - for example from Spotify)
The extra functional orange button is great - you can quickly start something (for me, an exercise); at the same time it can be used to quickly pause the exercise
The double tapping gesture of thumb and index finger against each other is super cool and works great
Battery lasts 4 days in normal use (without exercise), probably more in power saving mode (I haven't tried)
The display size is the same as my Watch S7 (I thought it was bigger) and the bezels are unnecessarily thick
When I roll up my sleeve, the sharp protruding frame around the display catches a bit on the sleeve (as does the trail pull tab on the bottom)
Apple still doesn't have a really nice watch face
