Seagate IronWolf Pro 18TB CMR
The Seagate IronWolf Pro 18TB CMR hard disk is one of the high load internal HDDs for NAS and ordinary data centres. 3.5" HDDs are designed primarily for desktop PCs, data centres, and other data-processing devices. One of the crucial characteristics is clearly the rotational speed. The 7200 rev/min RPM ensures better speeds when working with multimedia and data. The hard disk provides a storage capacity of 18000 GB. The device features a 256 MB memory cache. You can connect the Seagate hard drive and a computer or other device takes place via the SATA III interface.
Seagate IronWolf Pro 18TB CMR Hard Drive Key Features
- Read speed up to 260 MB/s and write speed up to 260 MB/s
- 256 MB memory cache
- Seagate 3.5" disk fits into classic larger bays
- Standard power consumption is 8 W, while in stand-by mode it makes 1.25 W
- You can connect it to a PC or other devices through the SATA III interface
Other Hard Disk Features
Platter hard disks have a notably special construction. The enclosure conceals a mechanism with moving platters, complete with disk read/write heads. These moving parts are not particularly resistant against shock or impact, but this weak point is well-compensated by an excellent price/storage capacity ratio. The important parameter that affects the speed of a hard disk is the number of platter revolutions per minute, generally known as RPM. With the Seagate IronWolf Pro 18TB CMR, you would get 7200 rev/min RPM. It's a great model for more demanding users, for example video editors, graphic artists, people who play PC games, and everybody else who deal with large amounts of data. File access speed and stability is also impacted the embedded buffer memory known as cache. The Seagate platter drive is equipped with a 256 MB cache that keeps the last written data for their speedy reading.
Connecting the Seagate HDD
In order to mount the Seagate IronWolf Pro 18TB CMR in your computer or other device, you need a 3.5" slot. The communication between the HDD and PC happens through the SATA III interface with a speed of 3 Gbit/s. The technology is one of the most popular HDD data transfer solutions available and delivers a speed of 600 MB/s.
