HP Prime
HP Prime calculator
A touch-sensitive graphic calculator with a colour display and CAS for school and exams
The HP Prime is a new generation of graphic calculator that brings touch control, a colour multi-touch display, and performance comparable to computer-based maths applications to an elegant, pocket-sized body made of brushed metal. Its colour 3.5" TFT display with a 320×240 pixel resolution and gesture support, including pinch-to-zoom, provides intuitive control for navigating graphs, tables, and equations in a way that students are used to from smartphones. The 400MHz ARM9 processor, 256MB of flash memory, and the computer algebra system (CAS) deliver the power for symbolic calculations, dynamic geometry, advanced graphing, and spreadsheet applications. Easy switching between symbolic, graphic, and numeric displays with dedicated buttons provides a clear way to explore mathematical concepts from different angles. You can also add your own picture or an image from the integrated library as a background and draw and manipulate functions directly on the display with your finger, connecting mathematics with the real world. A test mode restricts the available functions to pre-approved ones for use in standardised tests and exams, and the rechargeable lithium-ion battery, charged via USB, ensures long-term operation without the need to buy batteries. The package includes a hard protective cover, a USB cable, and a quick start guide.

CAS, dynamic geometry, and advanced graphing for a deep understanding of mathematics
The computer algebra system (CAS) enables symbolic calculations – simplifying expressions, derivatives, integrals, and solving equations in symbolic form without the need for numerical approximation. The dynamic geometry application provides interactive exploration of geometric relationships by directly manipulating objects on the display, and advanced graphing covers functions, parametric equations, polar coordinates, and implicit graphs. Thanks to easy switching between symbolic, graphic, and numeric spreadsheet views, students and professionals can see a mathematical problem from all angles at once for a truly deep understanding.
The real world in mathematics and readiness for standardised tests
The HP Prime lets you add your own photo or an image from the integrated library as a background for the graphing area and sketch and manipulate mathematical functions directly on it with your finger, connecting abstract mathematics with real-life situations. The test mode then transforms the calculator into a tool for standardised tests and exams – the configuration restricts the available functions to only those pre-approved for a specific exam, without the need to physically replace the device. The optional HP Prime Wireless Kit allows for the wireless connection of up to 30 calculators to a teacher's computer for interactive classroom teaching.

Hewlett-Packard was founded in the difficult times of the Great Depression. The founders were a pair of friends whose name the company still proudly bears. They started their business in an unobtrusive garage near the city of Palo Alto. It is now a national monument. HP’s success lay not in copying existing products, but in the ability and courage to come up with something new.
The first commercial triumph was an oscillator that surpassed all competition in quality, yet sold at a quarter of the price. In 1968, HP released their first desktop computer - a desktop calculator. The company currently manufactures products primarily related to computer technology - computers and laptops, printers, scanners, digital cameras, servers, and last but not least, calculators.
