A Microsoft corporate account is required to activate the licence. If you do not have an account, you need to create one for free via the link provided, the license cannot be activated on a personal Microsoft account.
Unlike personal Microsoft accounts, this corporate Microsoft account allows you to create users for your organization on https://admin.microsoft.com and assign them product subscriptions as needed.
The Microsoft 365 Business Standard product can be activated with a license key (e‑license or boxed version) or through a CSP partner. Therefore, it cannot be used to renew an existing CSP subscription or directly from Microsoft. When reactivating with a license key, activate the product the day before the original license expires and associate the new subscription with that user.
Activation procedure:
1. On a PC or Mac, go to https://microsoft365.com/setupbusiness.
2. Enter the 25-digit activation code (from ‘My library’ or boxed version under the scratch-off field in the package).
3. Create a new account or log in with your company account ([email protected]). Make a note of the account details for later use of Microsoft 365 on all your devices and for further account management.
4. If you activate a Microsoft 365 Business Standard subscription for the first time, you will be asked to create a user to whom the license will be assigned.
If you activate a license key and already have an active Microsoft 365 Business Standard subscription, you will be prompted to renew that subscription or create a new subscription.
If you choose to create a new subscription, the subscription period will be split between two licenses that can be associated with two users. In this way you can either extend any number of currently existing licenses or create new licenses.
