The Synology DS925+ network storage device is for centralising, backing up, and sharing digital data in both home and business environments. The tower design, weighing 2.26kg, accommodates up to four hard drives or SSD storage, with the option to further expand its capacity. The device uses the DiskStation Manager operating system, which offers tools for file management and automatic synchronisation across different platforms. The system operates at a noise level of 20.5dB(A) and consumes 35.5W of power during operation, which drops to 11.52W in standby mode.

High performance with an AMD Ryzen processor
The AMD Ryzen V1500B processor, with a frequency of 2.2GHz, manages all operations and calculations in the system. The standard configuration includes 4GB of DDR4 RAM, which can be expanded up to a total of 32GB using two slots if needed. Hardware encryption protects stored data from unauthorised access without a significant drop in transfer speed.
Fast network connection
Two built-in 2.5GbE LAN network ports provide a connection to the local network. Sequential read speeds reach up to 522MB/s, and sequential write speeds reach up to 565MB/s, ensuring smooth transfer of large data volumes. The network ports support link aggregation to increase throughput or to provide a backup connection if one of the lines fails.
Flexible drive and cache configuration
Four main bays support both 3.5" SATA hard drives and 2.5" SATA SSDs with a hot-swap function for a total capacity of up to 96TB. Two integrated slots for M.2 NVMe SSDs are used to create a fast cache or separate storage pools. With the DX525 expansion unit, the total number of bays can be increased to nine drives. This raises the total raw capacity to 216TB when using 24TB drives with support for RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, or JBOD arrays.
Comprehensive backup
The DSM system includes integrated applications for automated backups of computers, physical servers, and cloud services like Google Workspace and Microsoft 365. The Snapshot Replication feature creates immutable snapshots of shared folders for protection against ransomware and accidental deletion. Data can be synchronised with public cloud storage or other Synology servers.
Site security and camera management
The Surveillance Station application transforms the device into a monitoring centre with support for over 8700 IP camera models. The system can simultaneously record video from up to 40 cameras at 1080p resolution. Users get two free licences by default, and recordings can be saved concurrently to local storage and the secure cloud.
Efficient collaboration
Synology Drive provides access to files from computers, mobile phones, and web browsers. The integrated suite is for collaborative editing of documents and spreadsheets in real time, directly within the private cloud environment. The system supports network protocols including SMB and FTP for integration into existing infrastructure.
