Other Hard Disk Features
Platter HDDs have a special construction. Inside the hard drive there is a mechanism that uses moving platters, complete with disk read/write heads. These moving parts can be damaged by a shock or impact, but at the same time you get its amazing price/capacity ratio. The key parameter that determines the speed of a hard drive is the number of rotations per minute (RPM). With the WD Red 3TB, you can look forward to 5400 RPM revolutions per minute. This is a popular model for ordinary home computers and other devices that do not require high performance. Data transmission and overall stability is also affected by the disk buffer - the so-called cache. The Western Digital platter drive features a 256 MB cache that stores the last used data for their speedy reading.
Connecting the Western Digital Hard Disk
If you want to install the WD Red 3TB in the device of your choice, it must be equipped with a 3.5" slot. Data sharing is done using the SATA III interface with a standard speed of 6 Gbit/s. This technology is one of the best HDD data transfer options available and delivers a speed of 600 MB/s.
