I only recommend it for smaller and lighter laptops, then it's a great pad. It folds almost flat, the floor plan is significantly smaller than a laptop. The mat is also lightweight, which makes it very portable. However, the portability takes a toll in the form of lower stiffness and the small size in the form of lower stability. I recommend you look at the dimensions - the pad is indeed significantly smaller than I expected based on the pictures. For my two and a half pound laptop, it's just about at the limit of usability. Next time I will look for a more solid and stiffer pad. But again, it has its strengths, and for some it may be the best choice.
