What do the beautiful teacher Miriam Kocsisová, the plump housekeeper Otýlie Hustolesová, and the underage grammar school students Líza, Andula and Vendula have in common? They have all fallen in love with unsuitable men they really shouldn't even be thinking about. The 1980s are rushing towards their midpoint, and in the sleepy town below the castle, the foxes are bidding goodnight. But the peace is only apparent; beneath the surface, more than one time bomb is ticking. Love is a powerful sorceress, capable of derailing women in love from their established paths. Unhappy loves existed even under socialism, along with other curses like extremely strict fathers counting every crown, final exams, or a botched amateur theatre production. The 1980s were both charming and dreadful, so not all that different from today's crazy times, are they?
A native of Kladno, she graduated from the local grammar school and then the Faculty of Journalism at Charles University. She has worked for a wide range of newspapers and magazines, from Kladenský kovák at Poldi SONP Kladno to the ancient, legendary Dikobraz and, for instance, Nedělní Blesk. This unique environment, full of quirky and often half-mad characters, along with her original family, inspired her to write. She entered the readers' consciousness as the author of girls' and humorous novels Waiting for a Prince (1996), Bára from the Castle (1997), Who Will Give Me a Rose? (1999), Don't Beg Anyone (2000), All Water (2001), So What, Girls, What Will You Do? (2001), One Single Night with Engineer Kužel (2004), You Can't Shoot Your Father-in-law (2020) and others. She is the co-author of the parenting book A Stork Probably Brought Us (1992) and the book on gambling The Sins of Big Gamblers (2000), and contributed to the collection of true crime stories And Now We're Falling, Director (1998). By some miracle, she is still married and is currently a happy grandmother.
