Secrets of a café on the coast
When Ava Harrison receives a letter with an unusual job offer a month after her ex-boyfriend's sudden death, she feels as if she may be haunted by his ghost. But a special ad for a home care nurse position in Driftwood, Alabama, offers her a unique opportunity to start a new life. Although Ava has always had a fear of travelling, she surprises everyone - and most of all herself - by deciding to cast off her fear and head to a far-away seaside town.
Maggie Mae Brightwell, the seemingly energetic owner of Magpie's - a driftwood café that combines fragrant coffee and a world of curiosities - manages to fuse the old with the new in a way that creates almost tangible magic. But beneath the cheerful mask, he hides pain: He works feverishly to drown out the sadness of his mother's death and his worries about his aging father.
Ava and Maggie soon discover that they have more in common than they expected - both are haunted by regrets and the weight of unfulfilled possibilities. To find their own way, they must learn to forget the past and step forward. Because sometimes the waves of change take you exactly where you really belong.
"Life is too short, fragile and precious to hide in the shadows of unrealized dreams. If you keep looking back, you can easily miss the opportunities that lie right in front of you."
