The EIZO CS2740 model is part of a wider range of professional photo and video monitors from the colourEdge series. An important revolutionary improvement is the new colourNavigator 7 software, which is currently the only software in the world that allows you to generate ICC monitor profiles for photo editors without using a calibration probe – just by selecting one of the preset monitor image modes using the MODE button on the control bar of the EIZO colourEdge CS2740 monitor. The EIZO colourEdge CS2740 monitor uses a low-energy LCD panel with a semi-matte surface and a resolution of 3840 × 2160. The backlighting system consists of highly efficient and therefore low-heat-emitting colour LED elements. The so-called “cool” screen significantly contributes to lower eye fatigue and at the same time a longer life for the EIZO colourEdge CS2740 monitor. HiPWM technology is used for brightness control, which uses very high-frequency pulses to control the screen's luminosity over a very wide brightness range without causing image flicker, resulting in a perfectly calm and clean impression – similar to the reproduction of an image obtained by light reflecting off paper.

colourNavigator 7 Calibration Software - A Revolution in Calibrating the EIZO colourEdge CS2740 Monitor

Calibration software is used (as the name suggests) to calibrate the monitor. Thanks to calibration, it is possible to set the desired image parameters of the monitor, and the result of the calibration is also the creation of a so-called ICC monitor profile, which is a file that stores information about the state the monitor was in after its calibration was completed. It is also a file that photo editors work with after they are launched. Without an ICC monitor profile, they are unable to correctly reproduce colour photographs taken according to different video standards. The colourNavigator 7 calibration software is revolutionary in that it now ensures the generation of an ICC monitor profile without the need to calibrate the monitor with a calibration probe! It is enough to simply select a suitable video mode for work on the monitor using the MODE button, and the colourNavigator 7 program itself – i.e., AUTOMATICALLY – will generate the corresponding ICC monitor profile for the installed and used photo editor, so the user will see the photo in their photo editor correctly without having to calibrate the monitor beforehand. Moreover, the individual preset video modes can be “customised,” i.e., their image parameters can be changed, thus creating and saving a new, current ICC monitor profile to the monitor, and they can also be named as desired. Furthermore, operating the colourNavigator 7 program is very simple because all communication with the monitor takes place in Czech and does not force the user to understand the special terms necessary for the otherwise rather complicated manual setting of the monitor's colour management. Of course, if necessary (e.g., the monitor ages, or a new special – not preset – ICC monitor profile needs to be created), the monitor can be recalibrated at any time using a calibration probe. The colourNavigator 7 program uses the method of so-called hardware calibration for this (independent of the computer's graphics card). However, for new or lightly used monitors, calibration is NOT necessary, and the user does not need to consider purchasing a suitable calibration probe when buying the monitor. At the same time, they do not need to know anything about calibrations or setting up colour management. Everything is now handled for them by colourNavigator 7. When performing a control recalibration of the monitor, it is very pleasant that thanks to the high stability of the components used and thanks to the careful calibration of the RGB channel transfer characteristics already at the factory, it is only necessary to measure the basic RGB colour components and then black and white to calibrate the monitor. Calibration thus takes only a few minutes. Another “bonus” of the sophisticated calibration of EIZO monitors is the fact that after the monitor has aged, every user can perform a control recalibration of all factory preset modes (brightness, white point, and gamut) at home and on their own, thus restoring all factory preset video modes in domestic conditions. (Of course, it is advisable to check the accuracy of the used calibration probe before calibrating the monitor). It is again an advantage that the colourNavigator 7 program now supports the 20 most widespread calibration sensors and of course all integrated calibration sensors in EIZO monitors with an integrated calibration sensor.
