A bitch named Lotta

Sometimes life finds its way into our hearts through the smallest and furriest of creatures. The book 'A Marten Named Lotta' is a moving and gripping story of an extraordinary friendship between a human and a wild animal. In it, Wolfgang Schreil, known as “Woid Woife”, describes with humour, love, and deep understanding how a small, abandoned marten kit—Lotta—unexpectedly entered his life. The story is set against the backdrop of the Bohemian Forest, where the author lives, and is infused with tranquillity, the scent of the forest, and the rhythm of animal life.

The book also includes a beautiful photo supplement capturing Lotta from her first day to her adulthood—cuddling, hunting, sleeping, and observing the world from tree branches. It's the perfect book for a country cottage—ideal for slow reading with a cup of tea in hand and the rustling of trees outside the window. It is a story that will embrace you, move you, and make you laugh, all while reminding you how deep the bond between a human and a wild animal can be.

Author Wolfgang Schreil is from the Bohemian Forest. The story is therefore rooted in a place where nature still speaks its own language—and where miracles still happen.
