A Trick of Memory
Martin Barre's autobiography offers a candid and personal look at the life of one of the most distinctive guitarists on the British rock scene. The author charts his musical journey from humble beginnings to his long tenure with Jethro Tull, where he contributed to the creation of iconic songs and albums. Barre guides the reader behind the scenes of concert tours, recording studios and the changing music industry. He portrays his personal life as a journey full of searching for a balance between his musical career and his private life. He openly describes how challenging it was to combine intensive touring with family life and how long separations affected his relationships. He doesn't shy away from periods of uncertainty, pressure and doubt that went hand in hand with success. With honesty and humility, the Grammy award-winner reveals his life's path, which is inextricably linked with music, in which he achieves technical precision and a sensitive, melodic expression that ranges from delicate acoustic passages to powerful guitar solos.
