Der TDP des Prozessors (Thermal Design Power) ist die maximal mögliche Wärmeleistung des Prozessors, die mit Hilfe von Standard-Anwendungen erreicht werden kann. Er gibt an, wie viel Wärme das Kühlsystem des Computers vom Prozessor ableiten muss, damit er von zu hohen Temperaturen schützt, die er nicht ertragen kann. Der Wert der vorgeschlagenen Wärmeleistung wird vom Hersteller für jeden Bestandteil (Prozessoren, aber auch Grafikkarten, etc.) spezifiziert.
