The AMD Ryzen 5 1400 quad-core processor boasts a record low price, but still high performance combined with energy efficiency.
AMD is finally introducing its highly anticipated Ryzen 2000 processor range, codenamed Pinnacle Ridge. Among the expected improvements is the higher clock speed, as well as the official support of the DDR4 system memory type clocked at 2933MHz. The new AMD Ryzen 5 2600 octa-core processor is clocked at speeds reaching 3.9GHz and its performance is suitable for the most demanding users.
Key Features of the AMD Ryzen 5 2600 Processor
8 cores / 16 threads
Easy overclocking on virtually all motherboards
Powerful multi-threaded performance in supported applications
Significant gaming performance boost compared to Ryzen 1000 series
Economical 12nm manufacturing process
Improved Precision Boost 2 Turbo Mode
Requires AM4 socket motherboard
Wraith Stealth heatsink included
Introducing AMD Pinnacle Ridge
AMD took over the Zen core last year, and the company has succeeded in moving to a more economical 12nm manufacturing process that allowed AMD to dramatically increase the processor clock speeds. This notable change is expected to increase the performance by a solid 15% compared to the Ryzen 1000 generation. This is an excellent result, considering it took place within a single processor generation.
For all its new CPUs, AMD has decided to bet on the improved Precision Boost 2 function. It essentially provides a flexible increase of the processor clock speed and a gradual decrease when the processor reaches its maximum acceptable temperature. This means the processor can maintain higher clock speeds for longer even when multiple cores come under heavy load simultaneously.
Get Ready for a Big Upgrade
The new AMD Pinnacle Ridge processor range is firmly bound to the AM4 socket, not unlike the first generation of Ryzen processors. What this means for you is that aside from the processor itself, you also need a new motherboard and possibly DDR4 system memory with a maximum clock speed of 2933MHz. However, this hefty investment will pay off in the form of integrating a whole range of modern technologies into your PC. To name a few, you can get USB 3.1 (USB-C), PCIe 3.0, NVMe, 32Gb/sec M.2 slots, or SATA Express.
Generally, the higher the number, the more powerful the processor. For an office PC, a basic processor series will be more than sufficient, but for more challenging work and gaming you will require a more advanced processor.

The supported memory type indicates which operating memory the processor can work with without problems. In practice, this primarily means the generation of modules - the most common today are DDR4 and the more modern DDR5. Each processor has precise limits, so if you try to insert a different type, the computer won't find the memory at all and won't start up.
The maximum number of channels expresses how many separate paths the processor can divide the communication with the RAM into. Most common home computers operate with two channels, so it is ideal to install two identical memory modules to double the speed. If the processor offers a dual-channel connection, it pays to always fit memory in pairs; otherwise, unused channels remain "empty" and performance is reduced.

Generally speaking, the newer the technology, the more powerful processor, more fuel efficient and offers more possibilities for use. Currently, the best selling is the 22nm technology, however there...

L3 cache is the largest cache processor. Only one core can write, but it can be read from all the others. It brings greater importance for processors with four or more cores.

Hallo,
