The House Where Death Waited
Shortly after a middle-aged couple buys a country house in the hamlet of Javoří, a man's body is found in the garden behind the barn. It soon becomes clear that the deceased is Michal Taraba, who had been missing for over ten years and was officially declared dead. How exactly did the man die? And what role did the family dynamics play, whose members sold their shares to a property speculation company? At that moment, Viktor Palec, the mayor and a former police officer, has no idea that the perpetrator will stop at nothing…
Jarmila Pospíšilová
Jarmila Pospíšilová (1965) studied law and has worked as a solicitor since 1993. She has been drawn to literature her entire life, finding it a source of new knowledge as well as a diversion. Detective stories are her favourite reading material, and she also writes them herself. She is convinced that this genre has great potential; a good detective novel can also be a quality work of literature. In addition to several books on this theme, she has also written a contemporary novel and is currently working on another. Writing is not only a hobby for her but also provides a certain counterweight to her demanding profession. She draws her themes exclusively from her own imagination, as describing real events would likely not satisfy her. Thanks to her work, she has encountered many human stories and fates, which allows her to create the plots for her books and have her fictional characters act in a way that seems credible and gives the reader an authentic impression. Jarmila Pospíšilová lives in a small village on the border of the Haná and Drahany Highlands. Besides literature, she enjoys gardening, mushroom hunting, and taking her dog for long walks in the countryside. Her detective stories are mostly set in the countryside and combine a knowledge of this environment with the problems of modern life. In her contemporary novels, she places more emphasis on interpersonal relationships.
