The Asustor Drivestor 2 Gen2 AS1202T NAS storage serves as a centralised solution for storing, backing up, and managing data in a home environment. This compact Tower device holds two hard drives and provides a secure space for family archives, multimedia, and work files. The integrated ADM operating system offers a wide range of applications for automatic data synchronisation, remote access, and protection against external threats. The 2.5Gbps network interface doubles file transfer speeds on the local network compared to the standard gigabit connection.

Realtek RTD1619B quad-core processor
At the heart of the system is a Realtek RTD1619B processor with a frequency of 1.7GHz and four ARM64 architecture cores. This chip provides stable performance for smooth multitasking and fast processing of system tasks. It works with 1GB of DDR4 system memory, which ensures several applications can run simultaneously without issue. Hardware decoding of 4K video makes it easy to play multimedia content on various types of end devices.
Network connection
The device has one Ethernet port supporting speeds of 2.5Gbps, which significantly reduces the time it takes to copy large amounts of data. In a RAID 1 configuration, typical access read speeds reach up to 209MB/s and write speeds are 189MB/s. Three USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports on the device connect external drives or expansion units and allow for one-touch backups.
Data protection and RAID support
The storage supports RAID 0, 1, and JBOD disk configurations, so users can choose between capacity and data mirroring in case one of the drives fails. The capacity of installed hard drives reaches up to 32TB. The Snapshot Center security tool creates Btrfs system snapshots, which make it easy to recover files damaged by a ransomware attack, for example.
Security
The ADM operating system includes a built-in firewall, ClamAV antivirus, and the ADM Defender tool to block suspicious connection attempts. Folder encryption uses the AES-256 algorithm, which protects sensitive data from unauthorised access. TLS version 1.3 encryption with support for post-quantum cryptography prepares the system for future security threats and ensures a secure connection via a web browser.
Installation
The physical design uses a sliding cover, which makes it easy to access the internal hard drive bays. The internal drive rails and the outer casing are fastened with easy-to-turn thumbscrews, so you don't need any special tools for installation. The hot-swap function lets you change drives while the device is running, without having to shut down or restart the entire network storage.
Home multimedia centre
Through the App Central platform, you can install more than 200 different applications, including the LooksGood, SoundsGood, or Photo Gallery 3 multimedia servers. The system also functions as a surveillance centre with support for recording from IP cameras, with four free channels available by default. The Wake on LAN and Wake on WAN functions let you turn the device on remotely from sleep mode to save electricity.
