This textbook provides insights into modern medical biology with an emphasis on genetics and molecular biology and their applications in medicine. Its scope and presentation strike a balance between comprehensive professional texts (such as university coursebooks) and secondary school textbooks or popular science works that offer only basic, and often significantly simplified, information. It is written in such a light and understandable way that anyone with an interest in the subject can read it.
It is intended for students of healthcare bachelor's degree programmes at medical and other faculties. Medical students can also use the book as an introduction to the study of biology and genetics. It is also designed for secondary school students who are considering studying medicine or bachelor's programmes with a healthcare focus. For them, it should be particularly helpful in preparing for entrance exams.
