Miss Marple on the trail in the Caribbean
Miss Marple and crime in a Caribbean island paradise. The elderly lady is holidaying in a truly exotic location, but she is a little bored – the beautiful weather and stunning seaside scenery are not enough for her inquisitive mind. Even the stories told by her companion, Major Palgrave, fail to capture her interest. The next day, the major is found dead, seemingly from natural causes. Miss Marple, however, has her doubts. And she has good reason to…
Agatha Christie
British writer Agatha Christie is – and undoubtedly with good reason – one of the legendary creators of detective fiction. Numerous books describe and capture her life story (as does her own 1977 autobiography), and fateful moments from her life have even become the subject of a film. The author's extensive bibliography – numbering nearly 300 works including stage and radio plays, romantic novels, a poetry collection, and a book of poems and short stories for children – is mapped out in several encyclopedias (including lists and descriptions of characters as well as film, television, and theatre adaptations). Most recently, the secrets of her writing are revealed in detail in Agatha Christie's Secret Notebooks published in 2009 and Agatha Christie's Murder in the Making published in 2012, two books by John Curran, who studied 73 volumes of the author's handwritten notes in close detail. All of Agatha Christie's detective novels are constantly reissued worldwide, and their intelligent, meticulously crafted, and, above all, suspenseful stories continue to appeal to millions of readers today.
