Crimson River: the Red River

For the past few years, Lyla Eden has watched her siblings find love one by one, while she remains married to her work. She has just finished one hundred consecutive work days when her sister objects and kicks Lyla out of her own café. With nothing else to do, she sets off on her favourite hiking trail. And there she sees a man washing blood off his hands in the river. She looks at his scarred face and suddenly his hands are around her neck. By some miracle, however, he lets her go. Shaken to the core, Lyla reports the incident to the local police. Two days later, Vance Sutter arrives in town, armed with never-ending questions and a tarnished police badge. The chemistry between them is undeniable, no matter how hard Vance tries to ignore it. And avoiding Lyla is not an option. After years of dead ends, Lyla is the only lead to closing the case that has plagued his career. So together, they retrace her steps. To find the scarred man she met at Crimson River.
