The D-Link DWA-172 Wireless Network Adapter enables a high-quality connection to devices that do not have an integrated receiver. Compared to the competition, this adapter excels above all by its large external antenna that always ensures that a high gain signal is found. It can be compared to devices with a small integrated antenna as well when comparing high transfer speeds. The device can work with the most common types of security for wireless networks, which include WPA2, and WPA. As a result of its multi-language menu, the installation process will be easy to complete in a short amount of time.

It refers to generations of WiFi technology that have been developed over time to improve the speed, range and reliability of wireless networks. Each generation has its own specific features and benefits, and is defined by its standard, IEEE 802.11. Connection speeds also vary, with newer WiFi standards capable of delivering speeds of up to 9.6 Gbps.
The 2.4 GHz band is a frequency band for wireless networks that is known for its greater availability and compatibility with many wireless devices. Due to its wide usability, the 2.4 GHz band can be more exposed to interference from other home devices, which can lead to lower connection speeds and stability. Nevertheless, it is suitable for common internet activities such as web browsing, email and music streaming. The unit you'll encounter is Mbps, meaning "megabits per second", and to convert to MB/s (megabytes per second) you need to divide the value in Mbps by eight.
The 5 GHz band is a frequency band used for wireless networks that offers higher data rates and less interference compared to the more traditional 2.4 GHz band. This band can be found in most modern wireless routers and devices supporting 802.11n, 802.11ac and newer standards such as 802.11ax (WiFi 6). The unit you will encounter is Mbps and stands for "megabits per second" and is a measure of data transfer speed. To convert from Mbps to MB/s (megabytes per second), you need to divide the value in Mbps by eight.
