Dear Marta
A historical novel from the Těšín region about a woman who never forgot where she belonged
Miriam Blahová tells an emotional story about a woman who not even war could rob of what she held most dear. As Marta Kaletová finds herself on the cusp of adulthood, unfortunate events drive her from her picturesque village in the Beskydy foothills. At the beginning of the Second World War, she leaves her parents and, with her younger brother Oto, heads to Hranice. Although she tries to make a new start in this unfamiliar environment, her heart still longs for the Těšín region, which has been absorbed by the Reich. However, even the end of the war doesn't mean a direct return to the places where Marta spent her idyllic childhood. Times are changing, some losses can never be overcome, and the only certainty in an era full of upheaval is the love for her family and home.
