Flowers of the plague

I will tell you how it was then, in the autumn of that year.
I'll start by telling you the greatest secret of all.
I will confess the worst thing of all:
The only thing I wished for was for her to stop screaming.

It is the autumn of 1710, and the plague is spreading its black wings over Stockholm. After their mother's death from this dreaded disease, Magdalena and her younger sister are forced to leave the city. They travel to Black Lake Castle to stay with an aunt they have never met.

The castle is beautiful, but its rooms are empty, and there are few servants. But that is only the beginning, because more mysteries are not far behind. Why does Magdalena feel that her Aunt Katarina hates her? Who is the terrifying priest who visits the castle regularly once a week? And why isn't Magdalena allowed to meet, or even speak about, Katarina's stepson?

The book Plague Flowers is a beautiful and chilling story of forbidden love and dark secrets from the past.
