Forensic Sexology
This publication by a renowned Czech sexologist explores the field of human sexual pathology as it relates to criminal and civil law.
Its aim is to present the rules, practices, and current legal framework of expert testimony, particularly concerning sexually motivated criminal offences. In line with the internationally recognised definitions in the 11th revision of the International Classification of Diseases (ICD-11), it introduces new terminology for conditions related to sexual health and for paraphilic disorders. Certain anomalies of the sexual motivation system are illustrated with insightful case studies. The monograph also summarises current findings on the impact of court-ordered protective measures on the criminal recidivism of offenders.
The book is aimed not only at readers from the medical and psychological professions, but also at lawyers, criminologists, probation officers, and social workers. It can serve as an impetus for broadening expert knowledge, fostering necessary empathy, and facilitating easier interdisciplinary communication.
