A literary puzzle between love and death, where every piece of the jigsaw can change the entire story.

Dušan Stracený—a father, a son, a divorced man with a bad back and an even more painful past. On the physiotherapist's bed, immersed in memory foam and his own memories, he pieces together a picture of a life that is falling apart, but has always revolved around Prague's Kulaťák. He thinks of the women he left, and the children he lost. Images of his grandfather from military counter-intelligence, his grandmothers, and above all, the mysterious Ladislav Fuks, emerge. What did those quiet footsteps in the attic even mean? Where did Fuks's old notebook disappear to? And what if Dušan found it after all?

A novel about loss, relationships, heritage, and what we carry with us—and what we ultimately pass on.

The intimate knowledge and vivid description of Vítězné náměstí, known as Kulaťák, directly invites the reader to open a map and immerse themselves in the stories that have unfolded there, both in the past and the present.

Passing It On is being published six years after my last book. The manuscript has been passed on many times. Between memories and fantasy, between the author-reader and the author-writer. Between the author and the manuscript's readers. Now that the story is being published, I feel like I'm back at the beginning.
