How to become a Drummer

In the summer of 1988, a young Richard Chizmar found himself in the middle of a nightmare when a serial killer – nicknamed the “Boogeyman” by the media – disturbed the peaceful life of his small hometown.

More than thirty years later, Chizmar is a successful writer, husband and father of two sons. He enjoys a certain fame, partly because the Boogeyman – who is in a maximum-security prison – is only willing to talk to him, his fellow native and contemporary. During these interviews, Chizmar tries to get information about other, as yet unconfessed and anonymous victims, in order to help their relatives find closure on a tragic chapter of their lives.

However, when a masked figure leaves a gruesome calling card at Chizmar's house, the writer realises he must pay the price for dancing with the devil. It is clear that a new killer is on the scene, an admirer of the Boogeyman and also someone who must be in contact with this serial killer.
