HP HDMI Port Flex IO
HP HDMI Port Flex IO
The HP HDMI Port Flex IO controller expands the connectivity of select HP workstations with an additional video output. This internal module installs into a specific slot on the motherboard and uses the HP Flex IO interface, which enables modular adjustment of the computer's port configuration. This gives you an extra HDMI port without occupying a standard PCIe expansion slot. The HDMI controller therefore leaves slots free for installing more powerful graphics cards or other specialised cards. Adding the port adapts the setup for working with multiple monitors, a common requirement in professional environments.
Key features of the HP HDMI Port Flex IO controller
- Expands computer connectivity with one standard HDMI port
- Uses the specific internal HP Flex IO interface
- Designed for use with HP Z2 G9 workstations in Mini, SFF and Tower formats
- Module installation does not occupy standard PCIe expansion slots
- Adapts the computer's port configuration to current work demands
- Internal mounting creates a firm and reliable connection
Purpose and installation
The HDMI controller is designed for specific HP Z2 G9 workstations. It can be installed in the Mini, SFF and Tower variants, providing a uniform solution for different business deployments. As an accessory for computer cases, it integrates directly onto the motherboard into a dedicated Flex IO port. This means you do not lose any standard PCIe expansion slots.
Design and connection
The module includes one female HDMI connector on the outside and one male HP Flex IO connector for connecting to the motherboard. Thanks to its compact dimensions and low weight, it does not affect the airflow inside the case. The module's internal design creates a firm and reliable connection without needing any external cables running from the case.

Hewlett-Packard was founded in the difficult times of the Great Depression. The founders were a pair of friends whose name the company still proudly bears. They started their business in an unobtrusive garage near the city of Palo Alto. It is now a national monument. HP’s success lay not in copying existing products, but in the ability and courage to come up with something new.
The first commercial triumph was an oscillator that surpassed all competition in quality, yet sold at a quarter of the price. In 1968, HP released their first desktop computer - a desktop calculator. The company currently manufactures products primarily related to computer technology - computers and laptops, printers, scanners, digital cameras, servers, and last but not least, calculators.
