As the son of the most powerful boss of the American-Italian mafia, Enzo Marino's life has been carefully planned since birth. When his brother tragically dies, he is forced to take on his role against his will, but he learned as a child that what he wants must give way to the family's interests. When one day he too finds himself on the brink of death and is snatched from its clutches by the daughter of the King of the Seas, the most powerful man in South Carolina, his father seizes the opportunity. What better way to thank the beautiful singer and unite two powerful crime families than through marriage? Enzo, as always, submits to his father's wishes, because duty to the family is more important than a real bond and his father's word is law. At least, that's what he believes until he meets his fiancée's cousin.

Venesa Andersen is her uncle's right-hand woman, who took her in when she lost her parents. Although she carries out every task without hesitation in the hope of winning his love and recognition, she is still burdened by the familiar childhood feeling of not being good enough. Her most fervent wish is for someone to finally notice her and see her for who she is. And this soon comes true. The catch, however, is that the man in question is already engaged – and his wife is to be her pampered, hated cousin.
