Series: MRS GOODE’S GUIDE / prequel

A witty and lively story from the early 19th century set in the peaceful English countryside near London.

Readers of the popular title Mrs Goode’s Guide to Household Management consider “Mrs Goode” an expert in everything to do with the home: running a house, its furnishings, and domestic entertainment. Who else could help the Earl of Stalbridge, who has just become the guardian of his niece and nephew, turn his residence into a home?
The widowed Lady Manwaring is not exactly a model housewife, but she cautiously agrees to a request to stand in as Mrs Goode for the real author of the guide. Upon arrival at her new employer’s home, she is astonished to discover that he is actually her childhood friend – Kit Kiligrew. Tabetha may be committing fraud, but her affection for Kit is sincere. And Kit, after years of separation from the woman of his dreams, is determined to be more than just the master of the house. But what will happen when Tabetha confesses and reveals everything? Will it destroy their new, promising relationship, or will her revelation become the foundation for true love?
