This book follows on from the authors' previous two titles, The Montessori Toddler and The Montessori Baby.

The Montessori Child focuses on raising children from 3 to 12 years of age, with an extension into the 12–18 and 18–24 year periods. It thus covers the entire childhood, which, according to the principles of Maria Montessori, only ends at the age of 24. As with the previous two volumes, it provides very detailed advice on how to set up the home to provide an optimal, stimulating, yet safe environment for the child. It also addresses how to support a child's social and moral development, deals with practical issues concerning personal hygiene, sleep, diet, the rhythm of the day and the seasons, and emphasises guiding the child towards independence. At the same time, just as in the previous books, it presents us with personal Montessori stories from different corners of the world.
