Murder in the marquee

In a gypsy caravan, standing in a flowering meadow just outside the charming English village of Birch Hill, the body of a dead aristocrat is found. And another young woman is missing. If local inspector Daniel Haze, along with American Civil War veteran Jason Redmond, wants to crack the case, he will have to cut through many layers of lies, dangerous prejudices, and insidious intrigues.

The girls have almost nothing in common, there is no obvious motive, useful clues are scarce, and Jason and Daniel are at a loss – was it the closest family members, an all-powerful gang, or a random passer-by who committed the murder? And why? This is the most challenging case for the duo of investigators out of all they have solved together so far.

Can they cope with the pitfalls in their personal lives while also catching the brutal murderer before he selects his next victim?
