Nursing in psychiatry

The field of psychiatry has undergone many changes over the past decade. This revised edition of the successful 2014 book reflects current developments in mental health care and new demands on the work of nurses. The authors aim to offer a comprehensive text on psychiatric nursing. The book thus covers all the basic areas of psychiatric nursing care and becomes the main text for specialisation studies. Its basic content corresponds to the updated educational programme Nursing in Psychiatry, accredited by the Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic.

The editor of the book is Mgr. Tomáš Petr, Ph. D., who is a long-time president of the professional society of psychiatric nurses and also serves on the board of the European Association of Psychiatric Nurses. Tomas Petr has been involved in most of the reform changes over the last ten years and is now a member of the National Council for Mental Health. In 2023, he received the award of the Psychiatric Society of the Czech Psychiatric Association for the development of the field of psychiatry in the Czech Republic.
